Artisian Bread to French Toast with Blueberry Syrup.

For this recipe I used PCC's Volkorn Bread. It's a lovely braided loaf, very hearty and filled with seeds and other goodies. It made great croutons, good crumbs for meatloaf and think it would make awesome grilled sandwiches. I'll test that out next time we get a loaf...

French Toast Recipe from America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook

8 slices bread (I actually used almost the whole loaf, sliced 1/2 inch or so...)

whisk together
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1 cup milk
1 large egg
2 Tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon

slowly whisk in
1/2 cup flour

Melt about 1 Tablespoon of butter in a skillet,

cook in melted butter over medium heat until golden brown.

(Well... mine turned out too dark, but nobody complained!)

Cheater's Blueberry Syrup

Heat 1/2 cup maple syrup to a boil, add handful of frozen berries.

Boil for a minute, or until berries start to soften and burst. Blend. Or leave it with whole berries.

Drench your amazing french toast with more butter and blueberry syrup.

Or just syrup.

Either way - Yum.

PCC Sunday.

Well, I got it into the trailer~~

I didn't get to sort everything -- I'll get to it around 11:00 Monday.

If anyone is available ~~ the boxes of produce can be sorted for all the shop-able items; I just want the opportunity to glean food for my animals so PLEASE don't toss anything that is "yucky" for humans - I'll take care of that part.

anyhow, here's what I can recall:
potatoes
milk
tomatoes
lots of yogurts (bottom drawer)
apples
carrots
yams
sprouts
figs
pears
watermelon
orange juice
corn bread squares
cakes
cupcakes
angel food cakes
soup
lettuce heads
pattypan squash
golden beets
peaches
beet salad
quinoa salad
Muffella olive spread
sandwiches (fresh batch today - yesterdays is gone)
herbs
veggie wraps
breads
lemons/limes
spinach
onions
grapes
bulk bakery (not sorted into serving sizes yet so PLEASE don't dig -- dirty hands make for dirty food! I wear gloves to sort; take the time to help~~there are gloves and bags to sort them into there in the trailer :) )

I'm sure there's more I'm just not remembering

books

Half Price book run today  - about 20 boxes!ThanksAnnek

sunday

Hi, I'm the cleaner for Sundays and wanted to give you a run down on what's here today! Yesterday looks to have been a small run, and none today due to holiday (I'm guessing) but there's 2 boxes of broccoli, a box of ears of corn, box of bananas, small flat of tomatoes that should get used sooner rather than later, and some artisan breads. Not much in the way of sweets!

Fridges actually look bare!

blogging while camping...

The Friday run today was small, only 2 boxes of produce/bread, and nothing from Fred Meyer, and just a few papa Murphy's pizzas.
